Cool morning at Dyke
We decided to join the 8am walk at Dyke Marsh and joined Peter Ross and 14 other birders. It was decidedly cool to start with and wind made the smaller passerines hard work. On the river, deputed the sun angle not being cooperative, there were 20-30 shoveler in various female and manic looking eclipse plumage. They were joined by a few Blue-winged Teal, lots of Pies-billed Grebe and the usual gulls, forsters tern. We had good close view of juvenile Bald Eagle as they spooked the wildfowl. Chrystal locates a distant Osprey, the first of 4.
It always adds a nice dimension helping to get folks on birds and this group was no exception. In the marina a Green Heron and a couple of Greater Yellowlegs.
